The watch was for a long time already in my archive and the movement worked only one side lying - a fairly typical indication of a broken balance pivot. But I should be wrong. Even the winding mechanism was partially removed and lay next to the clock in the box.

The watch was made in January 1959 and has the classical Trilastic-shock-protection and is equipped with a swan neck regulation.

Danger! Left screwed!

A peculiarity of J84: not only the screw of the crown wheel but also of the ratchet wheel is left screwed!

Normally first the sensitive balance wheel should be removed. Then the rest can follow. The rest is finally shown after removing the wheel bridge.

The small spring often flips away. If I remove it I secure this with some Rodico.

Unfortunately, the small ring plate of the transmission wheel did not stand out I was hoping that it would dissolve in the cleaning.

And the dismantling is going on.

The housing of the barrel looks at first glance as tightly closed, with a fall of pressure with the fingernails on the edge of the gear the lid pops but then on...

The dialside:

Now the hour- and the minute-tube could be removed.

After removal of the coverplate the intermediate wheel and the minute wheel followed on the dial side.

Now even the actuator lever spring and again a nasty, small spring that takes flight lessons is removed. The spring pushes the pointer lever normally in the clutch drive that was already removed.

The shock protection

The dial-side shock protection of the balance shaft has been opened. The small three-legged spring plate I always shoot with a toothpick then the view opens up to the Junghans typical very large capstone and after his loss to the hole-stone that I would still be busy .

The oil on the capstone was completely dried out and gummy.

After reassembly of the balance with their clamp the shock protection was removed again.

Now everything is added (except the dial) in the watch cleaning machine. In this watch I decided exceptionally to keep the mainspring in the barrel.

everything must back into place...

When refitting the shock protection of the balance pivot showed the problem which is why the clock was not running. After the two shock protections were installed the balance wheel did not swing. Even when I rebuilt both systems on the other side nothing changed.

The hole stones were apparently different, even in color. The left was darker and was replaced by a hole stone from my stash - and surprisingly the balance swung from now freely back and forth.

Whether the darker hole stone was mismatched, displaced or otherwise defective was not open up to me because, unfortunately, I lack the knowledge...

Now no longer on I hang the balance on the gallows because it may happen a slight bend of the spiral.

Last steps and regulating...

The dial and the hands are placed then the work is mounted in the case. Because of the Trilastic suspension this is always a little difficult because the springs of the Trilastic shock protection are pleased to offer a little resistance.

The regulation overwhelmed my skills yet.

The transition can indeed at between +1 sec and + 6 sec in the positions but only regulate with too large beat error (to 1.3 ms). Here I must learn and possibly move at the first assembly of the balance the role so that the lifting stone is in a better position...
