The "genre" of pocket watches are called pocket watches, for wrist watches, this designation was omitted.

The designation of the calibers changed in 1962: Instead of the presented "J", a "6" was prefixed to the watches. Although the calibers were often no longer produced after 1962, the numbers were changed accordingly and appear, for example, in the lists of spare parts suppliers with a preceding 6 and suffix after the dot. For example, the Junghans J80 became the caliber 680.XX. For this reason, there are duplicate listings of calibers, for example under J93 and later listed again under 693.Over the decades, duplicate caliber numbers were assigned to completely different calibers. This can also lead to duplicate or multiple numbers.

The calibers were recorded until about the appearance of radio-controlled movements.
