The watch shown here carries the TDB-K 1369 caliber, a movement that was launched in 1974. In the Junghans coat, this is a real rarity. There are probably only a few Junghans watches with this movement, which in itself is very rare and was only built 23,000 times.

The TDB-K 1369 was developed from a merger of companies, in which Tenor-Dorly, Brac and Kelek were involved. Dubois Dépraz was also involved.

Brac supplied the automatic caliber, which belongs to the faster movements with a beat rate of 19.800 A/h. The rotor winds on both sides, the date changes fast and abruptly at midnight. Surprisingly, the chronograph module is constructed on the movement side and not on the dial side, like on some other modular calibers. Because of this, the axis of the rotor and the change gear had to be extended, but the movement has got a total height of only 8.5 mm.

Because of the use of the limited space inside the movement, a rather exotic dial arrangement followed: Date at 9 o'clock, and also the totalizers are on an unusual place.

Many thanks for the photos of this rare watch to E.K.!

Junghans and its automatic Chronographs
